5th grade landscape painting
The fifth grade worked on a landscape painting that scaffolded off of the trees they did in 3rd and 4th grades. They drew their birch trees with white and black craypas. They were instructed in how to use aerial perspective by paying attention to the size and placement of the trees. After the birches were put in any other details we're added such as buildings, paths, roads.
I presented a PowerPoint to the students with examples of trees, forests, paths and photographs of aerial perspective examples. They did a test drawing to experiment with the ideas before they began their actual painting.
